Kerel Cooper

Chief Marketing Officer

Kerel Cooper is an award-winning marketing executive known for applying first-principles thinking to transform how companies connect with audiences and drive growth. He currently serves as Chief Marketing Officer at MarketCast, where he leads global marketing, brand, and communications efforts for one of the most influential research, analytics, and data-science companies in media, entertainment, sports, gaming, and consumer insights. In this role, Kerel is focused on elevating MarketCast’s brand, deepening category leadership, and helping clients make smarter, faster decisions through next-generation research and data storytelling.

With more than 25 years of experience across ad tech, media, and business strategy, Kerel has built and scaled high-performing marketing, advertising, and account management organizations that deliver measurable revenue and brand impact. Before joining MarketCast, he served as CMO at GumGum, where he led global marketing for an AI-powered contextual advertising platform. Prior to that, he was President of Advertising at Group Black, a pioneering Black-owned media collective amplifying diverse voices, and CMO at LiveIntent, where he helped earn recognition from Business Insider as one of the hottest tech companies in 2019 and 2020.

Beyond the executive suite, Kerel is a recognized thought leader and educator. He is a professor at Kean University, teaching marketing and business strategy while bridging academia with real-world experience. He is also the co-founder and co-host of the Minority Report Podcast, where he spotlights leaders who are driving inclusion across media, marketing, and tech.

Kerel advises Media Tradecraft and CHIP, supporting publishers and businesses in unlocking revenue and accelerating growth through strategic marketing and monetization expertise. His perspective on B2B marketing, contextual intelligence, cultural relevance, and the future of advertising makes him a sought-after speaker and trusted industry voice.

A lifelong learner, Kerel holds a Bachelor’s in Management Science/Marketing from Kean University, an MBA from Regis University, and a Diversity & Inclusion Certification from Cornell University. His contributions to the industry have earned him a place on the ADWEEK Innovator 50, Crain’s New York Business Notable Black Leaders and Executives list, a MarCom Gold Award for team activation at POSSIBLE, and multiple Diversity Advocate of the Year honors from Adweek and Campaign Tech Awards.
