How Young People Engage with Social, Messaging, and Games Platforms
It’s no secret young people spend lots of time in digital spaces, from social media to video games to messaging apps. But what attracts them to these platforms, and how does their engagement compare across them?
Dedicated to elevating the voices of youth and the underrepresented, the MarketCast Youth & Identity Team has taken a deep dive into how young people use digital worlds to explore, express, and find community around their lives and identities. The team took a global, mixed method design approach of qualitative and quantitative research with 9-39-year-olds, including social analytics with Gen Z.
The result is an in-depth look at how young people are engaging with, building community, and sharing their personal journeys and aspects of their identity across these platforms. You will learn how young people use apps like Instagram, TikTok, and BeReal to share and search for information, and how they are using avatars in Roblox and other games platforms to express themselves and find community with others.
