This latest MarketCast Sports Poll (formerly Turnkey Sports Poll), reveals that the industry’s optimism retracted a bit from the small gains we’ve seen in the prior two months. Recent news of COVID-19 surges in the western and southern U.S. is not helping the overall mood of the industry and appears to be deflating the excitement around the MLB and NBA’s return-to-play announcements.

We kick the poll off with a look at which leagues or governing bodies have made social justice statements or taken action that have impressed sports industry insiders the most before turning to what steps can be taken to make fans feel safe as we look at future venue re-openings.

MarketCast Sports Poll

1. In light of the protests for social justice, the recent statement(s) or action(s) of which of the following leagues or governing bodies impressed you? (Selected all that applied)

2. If you were a venue operator, would you allow fans to attend an event if the costs outweigh the revenue?

3. In your opinion, what is the minimum sports venue capacity where the revenue meets the operations and liability coverage costs of opening the facility to fans?

4. As sports resume play and begin to allow fans in venues, which rules (that may be in place) do you expect fans as a whole to observe? (Selected all that applied)

5. Which sport is most likely to allow 100% capacity of venues when its next full season begins?

6. Based on everything we know today, when should sports event organizers permit fan attendance to full venue capacity?

7. Which area of the live event experience will be most improved as a result of COVID-19 related adjustments by venue operators?
